Contingency Bare Base Planning

Design and Plan for Sustainment of Expeditionary Bases

Contingency Bare Base Planning

GeoExPT provides civil engineers and logistics planners with tools that allows them to establish the design and plan for sustainment of expeditionary bases. GeoExPT employs consistent standards across infrastructure, security, and sustainment requirements. These tools provide support with the identification and selection of equipment, understanding for factors that affect transition between initial and temporary requirements, and anti-terrorism/force protection (AT/uFP) associated with the planned base.

Beddown Planning

GeoExPT's contingency beddown planning tools and services provide the military engineer with a variety of options and tools.

  • Create complete base layouts
  • Thousands of predefined Sets and Components
  • Planning wizard to determine components required based on population and planning criteria
  • Constraints analysis for proper standoffs
  • Advanced placement tools for accurate and expedient placement

GeoExPT provides the engineer with automated planning process tools to allow for the rapid development of base layout plans. GeoExPT includes approved layout templates, advanced placement and layout tools, constraints analysis, predefined units, sets, components, and beddown planning reports. The Basic Expeditionary Airfield Resources (BEAR) Order of Battle planning wizard and time-phased planning visualization tool, assist the mission planner in developing facility models and beddown plans based on unit population and delivery schedule.

  • Constraints analysis tools ensure that all standoff distances are met during placement
  • Advanced placement tools are built-in to allow rapid and uniform placement of features
  • Asset management ensures that only the required assets are deployed to the Forwarded Operating Location reducing airlift and ensuring the appropriate quantity and length of assets are provided
  • Planning wizard, with playbook options, determines the asset planning type and quantity based on the population required to be deployed
  • Time-phased planning visualization tool creates time-phased facility models based on the selected asset planning types and delivery schedule, displays beddown plans for each phase of the delivery schedule, and visualize the site as each step in the process

Planning Tools

GeoExPT provides tools for managing contingency beddown resources and setup. These include tools to add aircraft, sets, components, parking areas, and surfaces; it also allows users to convert entities to feature class objects and enforce constraints. GeoExPT gives users the ability to add surfaces to the scenario by digitizing the surface on the map or according to dimensions of the surface. Parking areas for aircraft can be added either manually, by digitizing the parking area on the map, or according to the parking area dimensions. In addition, parking areas can be added by specifying an aircraft type and quantity with GeoExPT generating the appropriate parking area for placement on the map.

There are several helpful tools that are available in GeoExPT, such as:

  • Planning Wizard
  • Template Manager
  • Estimate Gross Area
  • Analyze Area
  • Analyze Constraints

GeoExPT works to solve the problems of defining, deploying, placing, and managing rapid deployment beddown assets and personal efficiently and effectively. To do this, GeoExPT was developed with a more definitive view of rapid deployment beddown needs. The team behind GeoExPT has over 15 years of experience with military rapid deployment and beddown decision making and has applied this experience into the tools available in GeoExPT. GeoExPT is built on advanced geospatial tools and utilizes complex algorithms to derive efficient beddown plans for personal, equipment, and aircraft. Aircraft and asset placement guidelines are built-in to insure regulated but flexible control of base beddown layout. From the beginning, GeoExPT was designed and developed as a solution to meet the needs of the military planning and civil engineering communities for rapid deployment beddown.

Visualization of Time-Phased Planning

The Basic Expeditionary Airfield Resources (BEAR) Order of Battle planning wizard provides the engineer with a step-by-step process allowing for the rapid development of base layout plans. Through the planning wizard, operators can specify when units and materials arrive, which allows for a time-phased planning visualization.

Given the designated aircraft or planned deployed personnel quantity requirements, GeoExPT has been designed to swiftly calculate the equipment to fulfill the requirements. In generating a time-phased force deployment data (TPFDD), GeoExPT provides a list of Unit Type Codes (UTC). Planners can use this information to detail the timing and routing of their transport. GeoExPT’s planning wizard enables planners to expedite this process. This helps phase planning for specifying when units and materials arrive at a forward opperating location, or airfield base.
